چکیده

Aluminium composites have been extensively developed for automotive applications due to their high specific strength. However, particle agglomeration, porosity content, and weak reinforcement/matrix interface bond are prone occur in the casting process. These arise during introduction of reinforcement, mould filling, solidification process, especially when sizes approaching nanoscale detrimental, with respect mechanical properties. By applying pressure conjunction cooling rates, an improved distribution reinforcing particles can be expected, as improves filling capacity composite melt, which fluidity is generally decreased by added heterogeneous particles. The fine grain structure obtained under rate also beneficial nanoparticles solidification. In this study, SiC nano-reinforced AlSi9Cu3 were employing Al–Cu-SiC np master alloy, stir mixing, ultrasonication HPDC technology. findings showed a good individual particles, resulting reduction ?40% ?-Al size near 10% increment yield strength, was attributed refinement, CTE strengthening Orowan strengthening. Compared commercial alloys, AlSi9Cu3-1wt% provided YS ?187 MPa UTS ?350 as-cast state milestone ?370 ?468 T6 condition, respectively.

Casting of SiC Reinforced Metal Matrix Composites

Composites based on two aluminium alloys (A536 and 6061) reinforced with 10% or 20% volume fraction of SiC particles were produced by gravity casting and a novel two-step mixing method was applied successfully to improve the wettability and distribution of the particles. The SiC particles were observed to be located predominantly in the interdendrit ic regions, and a thermal lag model is propos...
